Closing Ceremony Of The First Training Courses Of IC Design And Electronic Systems Design In Vietnam Supported By Siemens

22/07/2025

Hanoi, July 21, 2025 — The National Innovation Center (NIC), in collaboration with Siemens EDA and Vietbay Technology Company, held the closing ceremony of the integrated circuit and electronic systems design training courses. This event marks the completion of the first training courses utilizing Siemens EDA tools to design and verify IC and for trainees from the leading universities across Vietnam.

The 21-day training courses attracted over 37 lecturers and researchers from universities. Experts from Siemens EDA delivered 21 key subjects whichh equip participants both  knowledge and skills to use Siemens technology in IC and PCB design and verification, featuring world-class EDA tools such as Calibre, Tanner, Questa, HyperLynx, Valor, and Xpedition. 100% of participants affirmed they would apply the knowledge and skills acquired from this course in their current work. Certificates of completion were presented to the participants who compeleted the courses and these certificates not only recognize their academic achievements but also help standardize professional competencies, opening up opportunities for the application and transfer of electronic design technology in Vietnamese educational institutions and businesses.

The graduates of the training program took a photo with the Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center and the Director of Vietbay.

Mr. Võ Xuân Hoài, Vice Director of NIC given a speech at the ceremony and mentioned “This program not only enhances teaching capacity but also builds a strong bridge between Siemens and educational organizations, then contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the IC design in Vietnam.”

Speaking about the cooperation model “Three-Party”- Government, Academic, and Enterprises – in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, Mrs. Đàm Thị Hồng Lan, Director of Vietbay Technology Company – Authorized Partner of Siemens EDA, emphasized the neccessary to apply this cooperation model in semiconductor industry in Viet Nam because of the unique nature of this industry. This is new and important industry and must be in breakthough development and because of the gap is accelerating between need and capability in chip generations, so this industry requires big resourses, especially in human, technology, and finance. The three-party model is the effective  solution to leverage each party’s strengths, fill the resource limitations, reduce gap between education and practice, and together simultaneously develop to achieve the national goal. This cooperation may not limited to just three parties, but may be more depending on specific projects.

“Each party takes on its own role, responsibility, and receives different benefits, but all aim toward a same goal – create humance resource and products addressing the needs of industries then develop economic and society.

The Director of Vietbay Technology Company shared about the “Triple Helix” collaboration model at the event.

The collaboration between NIC, Siemens EDA, Vietbay, and universities is a typical example of effective “Three-Party” cooperation. Over the past two years, Siemens EDA has donated more than 1,000 semiconductor software licenses to nearly 20 universities, have successfully organized this ToT training course and complêtd various other useful activities. Siemens EDA and Vietbay will continue working with NIC to host advanced courses in IC design, testing, and manufacturing to promote digital transformation and semiconductor industry development in Vietnam.

The closing ceremony was part of the seminar on “Developing Human Resources for IC Design and Introducing the INTENSE Scholarship Program,” also held by NIC on the same day. Representatives from universities, enterprises, and international organizations to share strategic directions, training and learning experiences, and opportunities for educational and research collaboration in the semiconductor field. The program demonstrated a comprehensive and strategic approach to developing digital engineer human resources — from practical training to linking academia and industry. This is a concrete step in strengthening Vietnam’s position in the global semiconductor value chain.
